Walk The Weight Away

  • 0

Exercise is crucial if you want to lead a healthier lifestyle. That being said it doesn’t mean you have to run a marathon or be involved in high intensity training to lose weight. Sometimes the simplest of exercises like walking can have the greatest impact. Here’s why you should incorporate walking as your daily form of exercise.

Just as good as the gym?

One recent study found on the NHS online that a brisk walk is just as good for you as any other form of exercise. Those who were found to walk briskly for around 30 minutes 5 times a week had a lower BMI than those who didn’t.

The gym is great but can also cost up to £50 a month. The benefits of walking are that it is completely free and there are no opening or closing times so it’s convenient for whenever you want to go for a quick stroll.

If you and your friends are trying to get healthier together then walking could be the perfect exercise to do so. It can be used as an alternative to catching up over a coffee.

Stress management

Walking helps to combat stress which is one of the biggest triggers in gaining weight. Being outdoors means you are in the fresh air which means you can focus your mind elsewhere.

Make it an adventure

Much like most outdoor exercises you can turn them into more than just burning calories. Walking could become a healthy hobby where once every few weeks you and your partner, family or friends could visit somewhere new and go on a walk. That way it’s a great way to stay healthy whilst visiting new places.
